For this week’s assignment, I got to swap sketches with Haiyi. She created a drawing of grey polka dots in columns that’ll appear onto the screen in respond to mouseX.
This was my first time learning how to build electronic circuits! It was definitely confusing at first but I came to a better understanding after setting up the breadboard myself. Here are some documentation of my process:

Food is such an important part of my life. I am always in the hunt for new recipes and restaurants. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time to cook or eat out (proper dinner) and hence I decided to dedicate this week’s project to my love of food.
For this week’s assignment, I decided to go back to the screen drawing I created last time and added movements to existing elements. I began with the background by randomizing the color and turned it into a neon color sequence.
Both Crawford and Victor brought up the importance of human’s input, process and output in any interactivity. I agree with their argument and will define interaction myself as two individuals (or one individual and an object) responding to each other.
Reading Crawford’s categorization on what non-interactive activities are such as dancing to music and watching a movie allowed me to re-think what art work I have considered as interactive.
I saw Hito Steyerl’s video installation Factory of the Sun at the Whitney Biennale last year where she utilized darkness, blue perspective grid light and large video projection on a tilted screen to create an immersive cinema.
First ever ITP post here! Transitioning from fine art into coding has been tough so far. Instead of directly applying paint I have previously mixed on a palette into the shape of a fish on a canvas, drawing in p5.js editor had similar process but in a complete different language. I created a mini aquarium because I like to collect underwater video footages. It was especially difficult to get the position and size of each bubble right. I had to test out several numbers. However, it took me the longest to get the color I want in each shape as well as the decorative grass at the bottom. I couldn’t figure out a way to repeat the triangle on its own so I had to duplicate and change the parameter one by one.
